Archuleta County Emergency Notification Methods:
  • Citizen Alert (Archuleta County's Emergency Call-Back and Text Messaging System)- This emergency notification system delivers messages to you in an emergency. The Citizen Alert system can send out a warning to the public on a conventional phone, cell phone, text device, or voice over IP.  Phone numbers that are in the phonebook are generally in our system cell phone number text number and voice over IP (VOIP) are not automatically in the system you must register your device.   • Archuleta Backcounty Emergency Twitter Feed-This system is used for backcountry notifications during a backcountry emergency. To sign up
    •  Text "follow ac_bc_emergency" to 40404
    • Reply with "signup" when prompted or enter your existing Twitter username
    • Reply with a new user name if prompted
    • To stop receiving text notifications: Text Msg. "off ac_bc_emergency" to 40404  
  • Archuleta Twitter Feed-Get short,timely messages from Archuleta County when an emergency occurs.Twitter is a rich source of instantly updated information.
  • Archuleta Emergency Information Web Page -Used to keep the public up to date on any large emergency Archuleta may be involved in.
  • Emergency Alert System- The EAS is used nationally to address the American public during a national emergency. The system also may be used by state and local authorities to deliver important emergency information to specific areas. This system uses the following distribution method's: local radio stations, local Television stations, cable television, satellite radio, satellite TV and direct broadcast satellite providers.
  • KWUF Radio-Our local radio station for Archuleta County will broadcast emergency notifications over the air whenever needed. Tune to 106.3 FM
  • KSUT Radio-This is a local a.m radio station that covers the Arboles area with repeaters in Ignacio and will broadcast emergency notifications. Tune to 1400 AM for updates during an emergency
  • NOAA All-Hazards Radio-National Weather Service broadcasts official Weather Service warnings, watches, forecasts, and emergency information 7days a week. Although they don't work well in Archuleta County, you can purchase a weather radio. We are in the process to get money to add a repeater in Archuleta County to improve the use of the radio. Tune to 162.475
